01
We visit your premises and carry out a practical fire safety inspection of the areas relevant to how your business operates.
02
We identify sources of ignition, fuel and oxygen – electrical equipment, heat, hot work, machinery and combustible or flammable materials.

We consider everyone who could be at risk, including staff, visitors, contractors, lone workers and vulnerable persons.
04
We check your means of escape, travel distances and final exits, and whether routes are kept clear and usable.
05
We review fire detection and the fire alarm, and how people would be warned quickly in the event of a fire.
06
We check emergency lighting on escape routes and at final exits where it is needed.
07
We review extinguishers, hose reels and other firefighting equipment – type, location, suitability and servicing.
08
Where relevant, we check fire doors, compartmentation (where accessible) and fire safety signage and notices.
09
We look at storage, waste, combustible materials and general housekeeping that can increase fire risk.

What to know
A fire risk assessment helps the Responsible Person understand the fire hazards in your premises, who could be at risk, and the practical actions needed to keep people safe and meet your legal duties. Here is what to know before you book.
Most directors and responsible persons know a fire risk assessment is required. The harder questions are how detailed it needs to be, what is actually relevant to your premises, and which actions to prioritise. We make that clear.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person must make sure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is carried out and kept up to date. If five or more people are employed, the significant findings must be recorded.
We follow the GOV.UK five-step approach – identify fire hazards, identify people at risk, evaluate and reduce the risks, record your findings and plan, then review regularly. We keep it proportionate to your premises, with no scare tactics or gold-plating.
Manufacturing, factories, engineering workshops, warehouses, logistics units, shops, nurseries, offices, MOT garages and motor vehicle repair workshops are exactly the kind of low-to-medium complexity premises we support.
Your report is written in plain English with a prioritised action plan, so you and your team know what to do first – no vague recommendations.
You deal directly with a named consultant who holds the ABBE Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment and is a member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
We tell you what the law expects and what is sensible for your premises – nothing more. If your building is high-risk or specialist (for example complex sleeping accommodation, high-rise residential, hospitals or care homes), we will say so and point you towards the right specialist.

FAQs
Yes. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person for almost any non-domestic premises must have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. If you employ five or more people, the significant findings must be recorded. See the GOV.UK guidance on workplace fire safety.
The Responsible Person – usually the employer, building owner, landlord or whoever has control of the premises. In many small businesses that is the director, business owner, site manager, operations manager or facilities manager. The legal duty cannot be passed on, but you can appoint a competent assessor to carry out the assessment for you.
There is no fixed expiry date, but you should review it regularly and at least annually as good practice – and sooner after any significant change to the building, layout, occupancy or processes, or after a fire or near miss.
It follows the GOV.UK five-step approach: identify fire hazards; identify people at risk; evaluate, remove or reduce the risks; record your findings and prepare an emergency plan and training; then review and update regularly. Our fire risk assessments are presented in a clear, structured format based on the principles of PAS 79, helping duty holders understand the significant findings, required actions and priorities. Where relevant, we also take account of recognised British Standards and guidance, including BS 9999, BS 5306, BS 5839 and BS 5266.
Our fire risk assessments start from £350 + VAT. The exact fee depends on the size, type and complexity of your premises, and you receive a fixed quote before we start – with no hidden extras.
