What you need to know
Risk assessments are the foundation of managing health and safety – and a legal requirement once you employ five or more people. Here’s what to know about how our support works and where the responsibility sits.
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, every employer must assess the risks to employees and others. If you employ five or more people, those significant findings must be written down.
We physically write your risk assessments for you – but it is a collaborative process. You and your team know the day-to-day operations and hazards; we bring the experience to spot what is easily missed and to document it properly.
Producing the paperwork does not transfer responsibility. It remains the employer’s duty to ensure each risk assessment is suitable and sufficient and that the controls are actually followed. Our role is to make that far easier – not to take the duty off you.
This service covers general workplace risk assessment. It does not include specialist assessments such as fire risk assessment, legionella risk assessment or noise surveys – though we will tell you clearly if we think you need one.
This is frequently an action left outstanding by a previous or current health and safety consultant. We will not take their role – we simply help you get your risk assessments produced and off the to-do list.
We support manufacturing, production and assembly lines, engineering, vehicle repair garages and builders’ merchants, as well as offices, retail premises and community buildings. The approach is proportionate to your risks and scale.
Risk assessments are only useful if they reflect how work really happens. Delivered by a consultant with hands-on manufacturing and production experience and recognised qualifications, ours are grounded in the realities of your shop floor.
You end up with practical, proportionate risk assessments written in plain English – not gold-plated, not generic – that your team will actually use and that stand up if an inspector, insurer or customer asks.
TIPS Consultancy Ltd was founded by Kapil, who has a background in manufacturing and in directing SMEs. He understands how limited time and competing priorities can leave risk assessments unfinished – so this service is built to be practical and collaborative, getting the job done with you rather than handing you more to do.
In simple terms: we come to your site, work with your team, and write your risk assessments with you – while the legal duty to keep them suitable and sufficient stays with you as the employer.

Getting your risk assessments produced with TIPS is a clear, collaborative process – from your first enquiry through to assessments written up with your team. Here’s how each stage works.
